Open Studio: Rachel Rossin - Recursive Life Drawing

  • The Hawthorne Barn 29 Miller Hill Road Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

Resident artist Rachel Rossin, a New York–based visual artist working in the media of virtual reality, sculpture, and painting, will host a Recursive Life Drawing Class in the Hawthorne Barn as our 2019 Hans Hofmann resident.  This approach focuses on drawing the body as it feels, not as it looks. The workshop will begin with an informal overview of deep learning and recursive neural networks. Participants will bring their own drawing materials, and Rossin will set a timer for each "pose," reading prompts and giving directions. A group discussion will follow. Space is limited, so register early.

Materials: Please bring your own drawing materials for the class. We recommend paper and/or your favorite surface to draw on, and whatever dry media you'd like to work with: pencil/pens, or whatever you prefer! We will not have easels, and do not suggest bringing one as space will be limited.
